Don't forget about the men! Traditional etiquette still dictates that a baby shower must be thrown by non-relatives, should be given before the birth but after is acceptable, and a gift is required. But from there on, tradition has gone out the window! The rest of the party is open to your imagination.
It has become increasingly popular for men to be included in baby shower celebrations. Since men are taking an active role in the birthing process from attending doctor visits to actual delivery, it seems only fair to include them in the party - and they are loving it. These couples or coed showers take on the form of your making. Have a tropical theme, a barbecue, or go Winnie the Pooh! The host should still serve guests some sort of food and beverage, but the infamous game-playing is optional. There are hundreds of creative games, and many of these are a hoot to play with couples! Appropriate gifts for first time parents are anything baby- related. New parents usually need just about everything.
